Arranging an interment
Colyton Parish Council manages applications for interments, Exclusive Rights of Burial and memorials at Colyton Cemetery.
Funeral directors, families and representatives can submit a Notice of Interment online using the application below.
The Parish Council will review the information provided and confirm the arrangements and applicable cemetery fees.

Exclusive Rights of Burial
Memorials & inscriptions
Non-resident fees: the standard fees apply where the person to be interred, or the person in respect of whom a burial right is granted, is or immediately before their death was an inhabitant of Colyton Parish. In other cases the fees are doubled. The Parish Council may exercise discretion in some cases involving previous long-term residency.
Memorials & headstones
Permission from Colyton Parish Council is required before a gravestone, tablet or monumental inscription can be erected or added at the cemetery.
Burial plots
The maximum headstone size for a burial plot is 24 inches wide by 30 inches high, on a base no larger than 30 inches by 12 inches.
Cremation plots
The maximum memorial size for a cremation plot is 18 inches high by 15 inches wide, on a base 18 inches wide by 12 inches deep and 2 inches thick.
Cemetery rules
Kerbstones are not permitted. Flowers, trees and shrubs must not be planted in grave or cremation plots. Other forms of memorial are at the discretion of the Parish Council.
Before an interment
No interment or erection of a gravestone, tablet or monumental inscription is permitted until prior written permission has been obtained from Colyton Parish Council.
The Parish Council does not undertake the digging of graves. Grave digging and backfilling are performed by the undertaker. Minister's fees are also the responsibility of the undertaker.
Purchased plots cannot be transferred without the prior written agreement of Colyton Parish Council.
